The Bunless Burger
The Bunless Burger:
Ingredients (BASE):
1 pound ground beef (or other ruminant meats like lamb, bison, or venison)
Salt to taste
Ingredients (BONUS): The world of bunless burgers is your playground. If you want easy, stick to your basic beef patty. If you’re strict carnivore, you can either blend or top your bunless burgers with your favorite cheeses and bacon. If you’re a little more open, the options are endless! Think blue cheese and caramelized onions; swiss and mushrooms; provolone and avocado; or cheddar and chili. All that and a dab of high-quality mayonnaise, low-sugar ketchup, or Dijon mustard and you won’t even be thinking about the bun!
Directions (BASE): Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over high heat. While your grill or skillet is heating up, divide the ground meat into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides of each patty with salt. Place the burger patties on the grill or in your skillet. Cook them to your desired level of doneness, usually around 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare burgers.
Directions (BONUS): If you’re serving bunless burgers for more than a party of one, create a burger buffet! Cook your base patties and then set out a variety of bacon, chili, cheeses, and other toppings so everyone can make their own, their way!
