Your Way Forward: 5 Pillars For Healing, Health, & Lifelong Vitality

In the context of our modern medical system, disease, dysfunction, and distress are not only prevalent, they’re profitable. Root causes remain untreated, while symptoms are routinely and often nonchalantly medicated. The word “chronic” echoes in too many people’s ears, resounding loudly and for too long in their bodies. And obesity – even with its associated metabolic risk factors, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes – is not only normalized, it is now often socially and culturally celebrated.
It’s largely accepted that once you’re approaching or “over the hill,” your health and body are headed downhill, and while basic lifestyle strategies (think: diet and exercise) are dismissed, Big Food and Big Pharma are more than happy to prey on the pockets of the people they’ve made sick.
But . . . we’re arriving at a tipping point. A new approach to healthcare is gaining momentum, and this approach isn’t powered by external institutions – it’s powered by the most critical agent of change: YOU.

Food: The food you eat creates a cascade of biochemical responses in your body. What you eat either fills and fuels you or leaves you drained and damaged. Focus on real food - goodbye, processed fats and sugars! - and prioritize animal protein, quality fats (think lard, butter, coconut oil), and use vegetables and some fruits for carbohydrates in an amount appropriate amount for your to your energy output and goals. These proteins and fats are the building blocks for your hormones, and they will make your body happy!
Fitness: Move your body. Find an activity you enjoy and commit to it several times a week. Not only will you reap the mental and physical health benefits (hello, endorphins!), but the progress you make will motivate you to stay on point with your diet and give you the energy and excitement to tackle your day.
Meditation/ Mindfulness: Meditation and mindfulness - or similar techniques such as breathwork - have been shown to help regulate Cortisol levels (your “stress” hormone), as well as boost Dopamine, Serotonin, and Oxytocin (your “happiness” hormones). Stress less, feel AMAZING.
Sunshine: Incorporate 15-30 minutes/ day of sunlight into your routine. Sun exposure triggers the synthesis of Vitamin D in our bodies, which helps regulate calcium absorption, supports bone health, strengthens the immune system, and plays a role in hormone regulation. It also stimulates the release of serotonin, the “happy” hormone, which promotes feelings of positivity, contentment, and joy. And sunlight helps regulate the production of melatonin, making it a key player in your sleep-wake cycle.
Supplementation: In this day and age, high-quality nutritional supplementation is not just a good idea, it’s a necessity. Due to modern agricultural processes and top-soil degradation, we are simply not getting enough of certain nutrients (ahem, magnesium). We highly recommended using short term targeted supplementation to heal existing dysfunctions and restore hormonal balance; and after balance has been restored, utilizing a few select foundational supplements to enhance the other tools in your belt (AHEM, magnesium).
